HISTORIC GRASSY CREEK-OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY on this 14.671 acre tract of land where Mount Carmel Baptist Church still stands tall. Even though the church is 150 years old, it is still standing and could be restored. According to Ashe County Historic records, church services were held on this property the fourth Saturday of each month. According to the same records, this church was built around 1876 and church services continued there until about 1952.There is also a small cemetery (possibly a second) on the subject property.
