About Me:
My path to real estate wasn’t exactly a straight line.
Before becoming a REALTOR®, I worked in journalism and the yachting industry, and served as a news editor and later editor-in-chief of my college newspaper — I even sued my university for violating our First Amendment rights, but that’s a story for another day.
I went on to earn a graduate degree in criminal justice and originally moved to the Washington, D.C. area to pursue my Ph.D.
Somewhere along the way, after writing more research papers than I cared to count, I decided to get my real estate license. That was in 2014—and I haven’t looked back since.
I’m also a Certified Big Leap Coach through the Hendricks Institute and Foundation for Conscious Living.
Why does this matter?
While at first glance, coaching and real estate might seem like two completely different worlds, over the years, I’ve come to see just how closely connected they really are.
You cannot separate real estate from life.
We buy homes when we’re getting married, growing a family, relocating, changing jobs, beginning again, or simply realizing that the life we’re living no longer fits the home we’re living in.
We sell when we’re downsizing, divorcing, retiring, relocating, dealing with loss, or saying goodbye to a place where thousands of memories were made.
Sometimes buying or selling real estate really is a big leap.
And sometimes the best thing to do is pause.
That’s one reason I believe being a good real estate agent requires more than understanding contracts, negotiations, inspections, and market data. It also requires understanding that there’s a human being on the other side of all those decisions.
Sometimes my job is to provide information. Sometimes it’s to ask another question. Sometimes it’s to help you think through your options. And sometimes it’s recognizing that life has changed and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with putting the home search—or the sale—on hold.
Outside of real estate, I’m endlessly curious. I love traveling—internationally and closer to home—history, music of all kinds, and discovering places, people, and stories that teach me something I didn’t know before.
I also love to laugh.
So while I take the responsibility of helping you buy or sell real estate very seriously, that doesn’t mean we have to be serious the entire time we’re doing it.
